Lazy Morning

Papa went out to work in the morning. I sent the 2 kids to the centre so that I could rest and do a bit of cleaning. I cleared up my letters (since June) while watching my Jap DVD... haa. But then the new system didn't like my DVD that much and it hanged twice. So I decided not to risk having my beloved DVD getting spoilt.

When I asked En what she wanted for dinner, she wanted the Soba salad. OMG! AGAIN?
But then, it is one of the easiest dish ever...and since they like it... I guess I will cook it for dinner tonight.

Little Mr Lee is having fun with his puzzles lately. Having played 9-piece puzzles, he went on to play with En's 16-pieces puzzles. Most of the time, he was able to complete them. :)

The night before, when I was about to put them to bed, the 2 kids kept talking and playing, laughing at almost everything the sibling said or did. Mummy gave up getting them to quiet down and close their eyes. Then, Papa joined in, acting silly and making funny faces....
Dear all, it is almost 12 midnight, it is time to sleep... not to play....

Short entry today because I am about to pick them up after buying my lunch. I am tired of the food out there...didn't know what to eat... :(

2010 Carpe Diem Concert

At first, I didn't harbour much hope that they will do the dance on stage this year (after last year's experience). First of all, the day before was their Gugu's wedding, we returned home very late, around 12 plus. To make it worse, they had to be up at 6 plus, to reach school latest by 7am. As if that's not enough, En has been having fever prior to this, so her fever has not totally subsided. Therefore, I didn't have too much expectations from her - as she didn't dare to dance on stage for the past 2 years). But I still let them try it out, at the cost of $100+. Why so expensive....2 sets of costumes $38 x 2 = $76. 2 tickets at $36. Plus the DVD which is about $30.

Last year, we bought 6 tickets (plus Grandpa, grandma, gugu and gimgim), but all were wasted. Both didn't dance. The boy just jumped for few seconds and sat on the stage, posing like an Ah-peh throughout...but good thing was he didn't cry.) The girl came out with an axe (props). While her friends were happily performing on stage, she chopped and chopped towards the curtains and suddenly disappeared behind them. (hmm..ok...better than 1st yr when she cried on stage.)

This year, we had a pleasant surprise. Ryan's class is the youngest group, so they came out first. The theme for this year's concert is ' Hello World ', they have different dances from different countries. Ryan's dance is Doraemon (Japan - haa.. Mummy's fav country). The little ones appeared in Kimono, standing behind a Doraemon cut-out. Their costumes are in white and bright red, with a red band, tying around their forehead. When the music came out, Ryan started dancing (and he really stepped from left to right and back all the way). He didn't show any fear ( of cos, he inherited his daddy's dramatism and thick-skin haha). He even stopped to wave to his classmate who was at the audience (cos he didn't participate). We had a great laugh because of his actions. Of course, I tried to video the dance using my cam. But not being a pro, the whole clip was shaky and halfway I had to walk to the side because I couldn't capture him in the clip (2 of his friends danced and moved and moved...).

After the 1st item (Ryan's), I told Papa, at least this year, one of them danced. En's was the sixth item, the anticipation continued while I watched the other items.

Finally, her turn came. She told me her costume is red. When the curtains slowly opened, there were 3 of them wearing red in the middle. From far and at first glance, I couldn't spot her! My cam followed as the curtain opened, until the end of the trail then I realised there isn't any more girls in red. Only the 3 in the centre! So I shifted the focus back to the middle and found my little girl standing there, trying not to be disturbed by her good friend who was on her left. Music started and she danced!! Haha... can't imagine how happy mummy was at that moment. Not that mummy wanted her to be a star, but I thought this showed that she has gained more confidence in herself as compared to previous years. I know my girl has always been very timid and shy. It took her a lot of courage and encouragement from us, to dance in front of a huge audience (strangers somemore). Well done, En en!!

It has been 6 months !!!

Oops... my last posting was 6 months ago ! :p
My new resolution will be to update this blog more regularly.

Yesterday, I bought a few Kindergarten books for En to do. After dinner and their bath, we sat down in the living room to start to do 'homework' (as what En says). I have no problem with En because she likes to do 'homework'. I started her with Maths last night, counting and writing numbers to 10. She can easily count and write, but sometimes she will suddenly ask me how to write a certain number. I skipped some pages as they seem redundant and too repetitive. Then we came to a page where the items are all over the page. She didn't count all correctly as she missed 1 or 2. So, I taught her to count and write the number on the item as she went along. Papa, who was beside us, watching the TV and doing his work, scolded her for not counting that page carefully. Our poor little girl couldn't take harsh scoldings at all and start crying. I explained to Papa that this page is slightly harder because the items are all over the place! Give her a bit more time. So, I had to coax and pacify her a while before she continued. Within that 1 hour or so, she did many pages from that book, with minimum monitoring and pushing. In face, she wanted to continue to do, but I told her it was too late.

On the other hand, the little boy just wrote a few 'a' and a few 'b' throughout. Those with dotted lines, he could somehow follow. Those with empty box, he had a bit of difficulty forming the letters, but he can do it. However, when we came to 'b', he didn't form the letter in the correct way, he wrote the first stroke down and straightaway wanted to join the curve from the bottom upwards. I told him it is wrong. 5 or 6 or 7 times! Papa stepped in to STARE at him. (Papa's stares are his nightmare.) But he still didn't write it correctly. So I resorted to using the hanger (as cane). Then suddenly, he could form the letter 'b' correctly.

2 extreme kids I have ! One wanted to do more and more. The boy actually told me (after writing a few 'a' and 1 or 2 'b') that he didn't want to write anymore. *faint*
I was a bit worried about Ryan's progress because when En was his age, she could recognise all the letters and numbers ! But Papa said not to worry as this boy's thinking is faster than his sis.
Yes, I agree, and to some extent, quite imaginative and creative too. But, still got to teach him his ABCs and 123s !
