Genting Highlands Trip 2013 June

We drove all the way up to Genting Highlands !  Lost our way and went in KL ! :P
Luckily, we arrived at Genting Highlands after 10 hours on the road. Phew !!!

The kids had fun at the Theme Park.... we witnessed Reyanne's growth in courage...haha!
She enjoyed the Flying Dragon ride and took the Spinning Wheel (whatever it is called) twice and still asking for more. Ryan lost interest in some of the rides... I guessed he was tired and still not as brave. He burst into tears when the Flying Dragon took off, as expected ! :)

We met up with Ariel's family there. Thanks to Ariel's mumy and daddy, Roy and I were able to take the Flying Coaster ride and be superman and superwoman for once. :p   Yeah...I screamed my lungs out but it was great !!!

This is our first time up there together and silly mummy did not expect it to be THAT cold. Luckily a few more layers of clothes managed to keep the two kids warm. At first,we were thinking how to entertain them in the car. Yes, they quarreled and got upset about each other a few times. But more often, they were playing, sleeping and reading in the car. Good Job !

The way back home was smoother. We have learnt from our experience! :)
GPS was a great help, but still... not totally dependable as it was not updated as quickly.

We visited the -6 degree celcius Snow World as well... mummy who cannot stand the cold got to sacrifice and bring them in while daddy went to donate money at Casino.

Struggling to bathe at night was a challenge. But we overcame that too.

Bedtime conversation

Last night, mummy decided to let the girl stay up a bit later, and had a chat before bedtime.
I told her about her Primary School, new subjects, recess time etc. She was happy to know that there will be Art lesson, Music lesson and PE lesson. Of course, she asked me what was PE. I replied lessons whereby you could do exercises and play games.

She asked me who her new classmates and teachers would be. She asked if she could wave and call me silently if she happened to see me in school. Well... I told her if the teacher is not teaching and it is the right time, she can. But how will she know if it is the right time? That will be for her to learn in future.

Then, she told me what happened in her Childcare centre, about her friends being noisy, sad that one of the best friend is no longer attending lessons (dec), some TV programmes shown were boring to her. She said she preferred to do work or art and craft.

Asked what she likes to do.
Still the usual answer : Do homework, draw, paint, games.
Prompting for more answers, then she told me playing piano and reading.
Oh yes, I sat with her at the piano for one whole hour last night to practise the few songs in the book. She could remember most of them, but needed more practice.

Boy felt left out and asked me to talk to him. Oops !
So I turned to my right and let me see my face. He started babbling away about school life.
Not long after, his eyelids became too heavy and he went to sleep. Haha...

He was such a caring boy.
Few nights ago, he showed his love for us by :
- asking if papa is coming in to sleep.
- asking if the blanket that 3 of us is sharing covered his sister
- letting go of my arm which he had been using as a pillow for fear that I would feel tired after too long.
Awwww.... he really knows how to melt my heart.

Tough transition period

I guess it is not easy to leave a Kindergarten and step into a Primary School.

I did not realise how worried Reyanne was until recently. Many things happened and she behaved differently, reacted unexpectedly and even drew weird drawings. I was not caring enough I guess. Did not realise how much anxiety was in her !

I guessed I must have been too harsh / strict with her. Especially recently ...
Being scolded during meal times may be one of the reasons making her unhappy...
Always hear mummy say " Next time you go to Primary One, you are a big girl already, cannot do this...cannot do that... "

I noticed the difference in her and could not tell why... I thought she has become an inobedient girl !
After I poured out to daddy, he just said, " She did not want to grow up. That's all."
I reflected on what he said and all that happened, and realised yeah... maybe she was worried about going to Primary One.

Yesterday, she said," I did not want to grow up. I want to be like this forever."
My poor girl...who always has a lot in her mind, has been thinking a lot ..too much in fact.

Today, she even refused to go to Carpe Diem !
At first, I said, "If you don't go, you have to stay at home and do mummy's work." She agreed !
But on second thought, what if next year she acted in this way ? If I allowed her to do that now, she may think that she will have an excuse not to go Primary One ! So.. in the end, daddy coaxed her and humoured her all the way to school. Luckily daddy is not driving today.

I told her I would be bringing her out tomorrow. Upon hearing about her poor appetite, my colleague recommened a Chinese Sensei, whom she sent her baby for Tui Na. She said her baby has wind in tummy, cannot sleep well at night and has phlegm and cough...so someone told her about this Sensei for infant and young children. I thought can give it a try. Let her go for some Tui Na to see if her appetite improves.

Upon own reflection, I tried not to scold her during meal times. I would not force her too much and try to feed her a bit more before letting her go.

Tough period.
Leaving her childcare centre, going to Pri One, no appetite during meals and get scolded...
So... it is not easy being a KID.

Ryan, on the other hand, displayed better behaviour (not compared to Jiejie, but compared to his previous behaviour). This morning, he got out of bed slightly after I woke him, brushed his own teeth and changed into his uniform.

He even picked up the books on the floor and helped to keep. Something I have been training them and still needed reminders. Today, he did it on his own. I guess Papa's suggestion last night work. We put a box at a corner, once we see anything that is not kept properly, we would throw into the box and by the end of the week, no one (Reyanne or Ryan) tidies up things in the box, it would be thrown away forever.

After he kept the books, I praised him. Praises work wonders.
He even went out to straighten the blanket on Papa and Mummy's bed. It was not a heavy one though, but he managed to pull it and cover the rest of the bed (like those blankets in hotels). Haha...

As usual, when one behaves, the other will have some problems or issues.
Motherhood is not easy.
I still have a long way to go !

Need a fairy-housekeeper

How I wish... I could just use my mouth to make things happen !

" Hang th clothes.
   Fold the clothes.
  Throw the old clothes.
  Tidy the books.
  Tidy the kitchen racks.
  Tidy the shelf.
Tidy the 4-tier storage box. "
