I guess I am expecting too much from Reyanne. Recently, I get easily frustrated with her when she does not follow my instructions immediately. Every morning, getting her to get up, change out of her clothes, go into the bathroom, let me brush her teeth without getting scolded is really hard. She likes to lie on her bed after waking up.
I think I am too used to pupils following my instructions immediately and I expect that from her too. Come to think of it...she is only three years old...Maybe because she is now jiejie, so I expect more from her. :P
Okay... mummy will try to be more patient.

My girl is like me... :D
Today, we went to a Japanese restaurant for dinner. As usual, I ordered my favourite salmon sashimi don. We ordered the kids' set for two of them. (But the waiter came back to tell us there is not 'cute aeroplane-plate' or 'train-plate' to hold the food. Why !?) Papa ordered Unagi fried rice (very nice) and a Kaisen Miso Kaninabe... yummy!
I let En en try a bit of the Salmon Sashimi and she likes it! Kept asking for more. Haha... my girl's taste is like me.. (she doesn't eat chilli too) Ryan doesn't like sashimi though... his taste is like Papa, he likes spicy stuff. En also likes the rice in the Don set, sweet and sticky. What I didn't expect is..she even likes the 'deco' veg that always comes with Sashimi...white raddish or whatever, I don't really know what it is. Papa brought Ryan to take the car, so we stayed a few minutes longer to finish the food. I was about to go when En said she wants to eat that (white raddish?). Thinking that she will not want it after the first mouth, I was wrong! She said it's nice and finished the whole chunk.
Last night, we were on our way home. We all squeezed in the front seat, with Ryan sitting on my lap and En sitting on the storage box between the 2 front seats. She turned her head around and accidentally hit against the metal grill (not very hard.. just a light bump.. luckily). She burst into tears suddenly, at first I didn't know what happened... thought her hand or leg got stuck somewhere. Then she told us she hit the metal grill. Still wailing, she said, "没有牙齿了".
I quickly pacified her saying "有啦,有啦,牙齿还在".
It was only then that Papa inferred from my answer what she said early and started burst out laughing non-stop! I got to keep assuring En that her teeth are still there while trying to control my laughter... so bad...but we couldn't help it... her respond was so funny at that time.

What a 3-year-old girl would say...
It has been one whole month... and I had been so busy that I didn't update my blog ! Gomenasai!
It's last day of Term 3...will be going to school for a few hours later...so I thought I could come here and leave a note...
Nowadays, I always like to 'chit-chat' with Enen...
It always seems so funny to hear what she answers... :P
Roy was away in Bangkok few days ago... that night, there were only the 2 kids and myself. After all of us had taken our baths... we sat down on the mattress...hang around till it's time for them to sleep.
En took a comb and came over...she asked if she could comb my hair.
Fearing that she would be 'rough' (kids don't know how to control ma...), I said, "ok... but you got to be gentle..." Happily, she started her 'hair-styling' practice.
As I speak to her in Mandarin... I would try to type in Chinese our actual conversation... :P (*sweat*)
妈咪:你很大力。。。
恩:要大力才好。(once, she said I tied her hair too tight...but I told her...must be a bit tight...then it will look neat and nice...so I guess that's why she thought '大力才好)
妈咪:你梳好了吗?
恩:还没有 (过了一回)
妈咪,我跟你梳,就美美了。
然后,你睡觉,就乱了。
(she even emphasized that LUAN le, with exaggerated tone and action)
恩:我在忙Ariel不要哭 (she meant..she was busy telling Ariel not to cry)
妈咪:为什么Ariel哭?
恩:"Hor Yi" (所以)玲欣打她 (she meant 'because'...but she can't say as Suo Yi.. anyway wrong usage...)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
妈咪:谁要喝nen nen?(milk)
爸爸:我! (daddy likes to tease her... because she really likes milk)
恩:不是!不是!你是大人了,大人没有喝nen nen的。只有小人可以喝的。
(mummy and daddy couldn't stop laughing... she meant XIAO HAI...but dunno why she said XIAO REN that night)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once, I just bathed Ryan and put him on the bed to dry and dress him. En was beside us.
恩:妈咪,弟弟有尾巴hor...
(mummy nearly fainted... if you could guess what she was refering to as the 'tail' ...)

Ryan's 1st Month in Childcare
Finally, little Ryan seemed to have settled down in the childcare. We sent him to Childcare on 16 June 2009. In the first week, I accompanied him as it was his first few days. He would cry whenever I tried to walk away. The scariest part for mummy was to see him cry till his lower face and mouth turned purplish black as he cried and held on to his breath till he was out of breath. On his first day, I left too early (around 11am) because poor mummy didn't have breakfast, so I left centre to buy some food and stuff. I thought he would be fine if he had food (centre's lunch time is 11.30am). However, he cried and refused to eat when the teachers fed him. They tried to give him milk, but he didn't take it too. So teachers called me, I was already on my way back to the centre, thinking that I could put him to bed before I go home. I fed him the beehoon, after which he could still drink the milk. However, he was too tired from all the crying and become very grouchy. In the end, I brought him home to take a nap. His papa said I could bring him back to centre to play for a while after his nap. So I did. He seemed fine as long as I was around.
On the second day, I spent the entire morning with him. I left only when he fell asleep at 12 plus. I returned at 3pm to see how he was, Teacher Dorothy said he woke up at 1 plus, whined a while but was fine after that. Since he didn't see me, I left the centre again. :P
On the third day, it was about the same. That ended Ryan's 1st week in Childcare.
On the following Sunday, Ryan was down with fever. It came back on Monday afternoon, so I got to fetch him to doctor. He was sick for the whole week and didn't get to attend school. He got lung infections and high fever. It was also a tough week, got to bring him to the doctor a few times to review and check. At 1 point in time, the doctor said if the new antibiotics didn't work for him, we got to send him to the hospital. Luckily, the new medicine worked and his fever went down. Phew..
So...after 1 week of absence, we got to start all over again - getting Ryan used to the school routine. At first, he would cry very dramatically when the teacher carried him in. (Mummy could not accompany him in anymore since it's not his first few days... and because of the H1N1 situation, no parents are even allowed to step inside the centre.)
Whenever we go to fetch him, we would hear his teacher's feedback. He kissed a girl in Enen's class... pulled Enen's and her friend's hair.He seemed to be scared of the centre supervisor - Jasmine. Whenever he cried, the teachers would pretend to call for Jasmine, he would stop crying and looked around , as if to see if Jasmine is here.
Basically, his morning cries became lesser, but still cried, whenever he went sent to school. After 2 weeks, he seemed to be familiar with the routine, getting used to it. Last Thursday 16 July, it happened to be Teacher Dorothy on duty at the centre entrance. He didn't hide behind my legs or clung on to me tightly. He walked to Teacher Dorothy who carried him and put him on the chair to remove his shoes, check for temperature and so on. Only then, he started to cry...but only for a while, when he was carried in, he stopped crying. On Friday 17 July, it was not Teacher Dorothy at the door, he hid behind my legs and peeped at the teacher, and decided to sit on the chair outside the centre. Teacher Dorothy came to receive him, when he heard her saying, "Hello Ryan.." he turned and immediately came down from the chair and went in on his own! He tried to take off his shoes. Amazing thing was he DIDN'T CRY at all that day!
WELL DONE! Hahaha...
Reyanne took 1 whole month to get used to the childcare centre. Ryan took only 2 weeks! ( since his 2nd week was spent at home)
Hopefully he will do the same from now on :p

Ryan goes to school!
Hard to believe, little Ryan actually starts attending school... hmm...ok...childcare centre. :p
I can accompany him for the first 3 days. On the first day, when I was around, he was quite good, played with the toys, ignored whatever the teacher was doing, just walked around as if it was his house...messing around with the toys. There are altogether 8 children in the Toddler Class, with 2 teachers attending to them. 2 girls and 6 boys. Ryan is the youngest (only 17 months). Little Keefe gorgor seemed to like him a lot, he kept wanting to hold his hands, hold Ryan's bottle to let him drink, and even ran to pull out a piece of tissue to wipe his mouth.
The first morning, when it was around lunch time, I thought I could sneak away for awhile to eat...(mummy was hungry...without breakfast since morning). I left the centre for about half an hour to take my lunch and buy a bit of groceries (I planned to go home, thinking that he should be alright). However, teacher Dorothy called me to say he kept crying non-stop, refused to eat when they fed him. I went back to feed him. Then I thought must let him try bathing in school. That's when he gave me a shock. I let the teacher bring him in, he cried and cried, till he was almost out of breathe and his mouth and face turned purplish black !! The teacher quickly pat him and carried him back to me...and he could stop almost immediately. Teacher Dorothy said some kids will do that.

On 28 May 2006...

Three years ago, baby Reyanne arrived... till this day, I could still remember every detail (though my memory of other things seemed to fail me...) I think I want to jot down what happened exactly... on the day, my little princess came to the world :)
That was 2 days after school closed, a SUNDAY...my 1st Sunday in June 2006. My gynae Dr WK Tan said my due date is 060606, 6 June 2006. I thought it was a wonderful date... but then little Reyanne couldn't wait till 060606, she decided to come out on 28052006. :)
That morning, I jumped up from bed at 9am because my water bag started to leak...as it was my first experience, I didn't know, at first I thought it's... shhh shhh.. haha. then I realised, it's different...I couldn't control it at all...
We had planned to go all the way to the West to get some accessories for her, but this unforseen circumstances made us change our plans. We were halfway to our destination when we decided to head for Thomson Medical Centre. We reached there at about 11am, did the registration and they pushed me in to what's-that-called? 'waiting ward' or whatever...
Had my sandwich there...and happily waited. Roy sent mum back (as she was with us in the car) then he made his way back to the hospital. This Papa-to-be happily set up his laptop and did his work while poor Mummy-to-be lied on the bed in pain, as contraction began at 1plus in the afternoon.
After sometime, I thought I had already reached the limit, couldn't tolerate the pain anymore, then I requested for the Epidural. But, it seemed to take forever for that guy to reach the ward to do the injection. When he reached the ward, he still chatted with the nurse on duty and time seemed to move by sooooo slowly... I was in so much pain that I was actually scolding him for taking his own sweet time. And, guess what, the epidural didn't take effect on my whole body. Half of my body was numb, but the other half could still feel the pain. The nurse said,'maybe it didn't 'flow' properly.'...whatever excuse or reason given, I couldn't help thinking why I was unlucky !
Anyway, I waited till 5pm when Dr Tan came in to check on me. She said "ok, ready to deliver!"
Initially, I thought I had to push for a long long time, then bit by bit the baby would come out... but it wasn't that way! Dr Tan asked me to get ready and followed her cue to PUSH... ok... I think I was a pretty good student, baby Reyanne came out at the third push ! Reyanne came out at 5.26pm that day.

After my gynae 'finished' the rest of her 'work', I was already busy sms-ing people at 5.45pm :)
Haha... hard to believe someone who just delivered could look so energetic... (how lucky am I)
ok..that's my 'recollection' of Reyanne's arrival... and now she is already 3 years old!! Oh my goodness...how time flies... :)
