Ryan is growing...

I remember telling others that Ryan is slower in his development of speech. Finally, he has started talking more, using more vocabulary, even with different tones plus facial expressions. This little boy is really a cheeky one. = )

Some weeks ago, we brought them to MacDonalds as it was Reyanne's 4th birthday. In one of the Happy Meal was a Shrek toy whereby you can attach a 'baby' or pull it off. When you attach it, a voice would come out 'My Little Man', when it was being detached, you would hear 'Arghhhhhhh !!' So Ryan started mimicking the sounds... he looked really funny and I can't stop watching that video clip...haha..

Another incident was...when Reyanne, Ryan and Jieren were in Grandma's bathroom bathing... :P ( Yes... she bathed 3 of them at the same time ...let them sit in a tub and play with water) Anyway... back to the story, after playing with water, she asked ' Who wants to come out first?' Little Ryan shouted immediately 'Me' (in Mandarin 'Wo'), thinking that being the first to answer is the champion... little did he know that actually being the 1st everytime is not really good as he had to stop playing first and come out to dry himself. The next day, Grandma asked the same question. This boy quickly pointed at Jieren and said, "Ren Ren!"

Again in the bathroom, this time Grandma tried a different tactic. She asked 'Shou you mei you zhou zhou?'. At first, I think he doesn't really understand the meaning of "zhou zhou". He looked at his hands and echoed 'zhou zhou'. So Grandma said, 'ohh...then must come out....' Realised he was being 'tricked', he quickly changed his answer and said 'Bu Hui Le... Bu Hui Le....!" and sat down continued playing.

Last Saturday, the 2 went to Gonggong and Po Po's house for the day as Mummy needed to attended a church wedding in the morning. At night, Gong Gong showed me a photo -which I couldn't make sense of it at all. Gong Gong said," These are all the ''overseas certificates' your son wanted to bring home." So it turned out that, little Ryan and Reyanne drew and doodled on recycled papers at G/P's house. Ryan wanted to bring back all the papers, so he tried to stuff them into Reyanne's Dora bag which was already quite packed. I heard he sat there, trying to solve his problem. Finally, he decided to roll up every piece of paper and slot them into the bag. And he actually sat there to roll about at least 15 pieces of A4-size papers, without making any sound, without disturbing anyone. Haha... Good thinking, boy!

Going through another phase ?

In March, Ryan got HFMD, and was kept away from childcare centre for 10 days. After his recovery, he didn't want to go to school! He would sit outside the centre (don't know what he is waiting for) and waited...till either I carried him in or passed him to a teacher. Without fail, he would start wailing loudly and pitifully as if I have abandoned him. At first, I thought...ok... he got to get used to the routine one more time...maybe just a week or two at most. However, till now, mid April, he is still doing the same thing EVERY MORNING. ok...not every morning...at least he didn't do that TODAY (only today...so when I came back I told Roy he can buy Toto).

Luckily, from what I heard, he would stop after 5 to 10 mins. For the rest of the days, he would be alright and enjoying himself and would still occasionally disturb others. But then... En en also started acting up. I wonder if it's because she saw what her brother did. Every morning (and night), I need to tell her Mummy has to go to work, no one is at home to look after them so they have to go to school and play with friends. Sometimes, it was really frustrating to see them behaving like this, especially when other kids walk in to the school happily and wave byebye to their daddy and mummy. I really hope we can get over this phase SOON.

Emotional Mother

Yesterday, we went to my parents' house since it was a holiday. With the two kids bugging their Gonggong, I went down to do my work on the computer. The television was on, but I wasn't following any of the movies shown in particular...till this 'horror' movie.

I didn't watch from the beginning, just managed to fix the story together through the bits that I had watched. It showed Shu Qi as a mother who moved into a new apartment with her hubby and toddler son.

Somehow, her son was taken away by a 'monster', who turned out to be a mad woman who lived on scraps and hid in unknown parts of the estate. This scary-looking mad woman, played by Lin Jia Xin, lost her hubby and was left alone with her son. Being unable to support themselves financially after her husband died, they wandered on streets. While she hasn't lost her sanity, she still looked after her son though they could not make ends meet. However, her son died... I didn't get to watch how he died. (so I managed to save up some tears)

Somehow, when I watched again, it seemed that Shu Qi was left alone to deal with the 'kidnap' of her son. However, according to Roy, the son was slowly being 'transformed' ??? Shu Qi tried to find out more about the mad woman and approached police for help, but didn't know what the police did. Anyway, she managed to lure the mad woman into her apartment using her 'already dead son' as a 'bait' (well..the mad woman had lost her sanity and maybe her memory got mixed up so she couldn't remember that her son had died).

When the mad woman left the boy alone to find Shu Qi, I thought it was a good chance for the boy to follow her route and escape to find his mother. While the 2 women were fighting in the apartment, the boy appeared at the doorstep of his own house and cried. During the fight, the 2 women were pushed by each other to different corners of the house (shortly after the boy appeared), the boy slowly moved forward, crying sadly... but what made me BURST INTO TEARS WAS to see the son walking towards to MAD WOMAN !!!!!!! He was saying to her ,"Why did you leave me alone?" and went to hug her !!! I COULDN'T TAKE IT AT ALL!!!!

Whenever I watch shows with small children suffering from mishaps, it always makes me very emotional because I would easily think about what it will be like if that child is my own. I couldn't believe it...so immediately, the thought that flew to me was... like my own child forsake me for a MAD and dirty woman who kept him away from his own mother!

The mad woman took the boy away, leaving the devastated Shu Qi alone. She brought the boy up to the rooftop... foreseeing what may come... I walked away and refused to continue to watch that HORRIBLE show! I knew my tap would not stop if she really jumped down from the building with that innocent and cute boy.

I know I was the type to cry easily (from watching sad love stories/ dramas) but I think I have 'levelled up' after I became a mother myself. I wonder if other mothers are like me... or.... was it JUST ME ???

1st Entry in 2010

This is my first official entry in 2010. Oh my goodness... was I so busy that I forgot about this blog? But I added En en's Video clips.. :P Ok...not so bad.

It is 2 April today, a holiday for us - Good Friday!

En en has learnt 7 Tang Poems in school. I am amazed with her memory. It was fun listening to her as well. :) Few days ago, En en suddenly commented, " I didn't see Papa and Mummy get married. I want to see lei." She made the same comment about Gonggong and Popo's marriage as well. Haha... where did she learnt the word 'Jie Hun' in the first place?

Ryan has been very active, he had just recovered from HFMD the week before. Lucky for him or for us, I think it was considered mild. He wasn't crying from discomfort or pain, but maybe the itching irritated him. We were trying hard to prevent him from scratching too much.

Tang Poems...

Few days ago, En en suddenly started memorised some lines she learnt in school. At first, Mummy didn't know what she said, thought she was mumbling some nonsense (yes, she does that at times..*roll eyes*)

However, she said that few lines again on a later date, and I realised...oh...the words actually made some sense! :P Sorry, Mummy didn't learn that Yong Er Poem, didn't know! :P

Her 1st Tang Poem : 咏鹅
鹅,鹅,鹅,
曲 项 向 天 歌。
白 毛 浮 绿 水,
红 掌 拨 清 波。

Her 2nd Tang Poem : 春晓
春 眠 不 觉 晓,
处 处 闻 啼 鸟。
夜 来 风 雨 声,
花 落 知 多 少。

Papa copycat, followed Ryan's new favourite pose.

This is my latest pose.

The pose is so popular that En en also did it.

Wow...sweet drink...and Winnie the Pooh plate.

I am a big boy, I want to eat on my own. (even though I make a mess)

En en was happy watching the fountain.

The 2 siblings took a photo with the fountain as their background.
But the boy was already quite tired.

My signature pose...

Ryan is starting to talk

We have always heard others saying, "Boys will learn to speak at a later age as compared to girls". True.

Ryan is only starting to say 2-different words recently. But Papa said he picked up other things more quickly than Enen. Last night, he picked up the air-con remote control and pointed at the air-con and said," Leng leng... Con" I wonder where he learnt it from. We don't turn on the air-con at home. He may have seen it in school or Popo's house I guess.

I think my favourite is what he asks "Shui?" whenever he sees us talking on the phone or typing sms. :p Plus his genuinely kay-po-turned-cheeky look when he says that, as if he really knows who I am talking about. No matter what our answer is, he will give his cheeky grin and walk away having satisfied his curiosity.

His favourite toy seems to be Papa and Mummy's keys. He will keep saying "Do Der...do der" till we give it to him. What's so fun about keys I don't understand. He just likes to hold it and try to stuck it into the keyholes...sometimes when he is playing with the keys, he will try to find any hole and try to "open".

He can sing too, when he is in a good mood. Though I don't know what he is singing.. :P Once when Enen is singing Ni Wa Wa.. he will sing " Ni ni ni (same high pitch) and Wa wa wa (same low pitch)" and keep repeating lor. :p Once in a while, I can make out a few other words like MA..." haa... I remember when En en starts singing, she can only sing the last word of every phrase. Ryan can entertain us (and himself) with his off-tune, off-beat and cannot-make-out-what-lyrics singing.

His ostrich-syndrome comes from his Jiejie I believe. Whenever Papa starts to scold him, he will either cover his eyes with both hands or hide his face against the wall/bed/whatever furniture is nearest to him. He can stay at that position for few minutes without moving! Amazing! For someone who cannot keep still! :P

I Need More Patience

I guess I am expecting too much from Reyanne. Recently, I get easily frustrated with her when she does not follow my instructions immediately. Every morning, getting her to get up, change out of her clothes, go into the bathroom, let me brush her teeth without getting scolded is really hard. She likes to lie on her bed after waking up.

I think I am too used to pupils following my instructions immediately and I expect that from her too. Come to think of it...she is only three years old...Maybe because she is now jiejie, so I expect more from her. :P

Okay... mummy will try to be more patient.
